Hospital Policies

Milwaukee Area Vet, Open 7 Days a Week, No Weekend Emergency Fees

We at the Advanced Animal Hospital Group have set a standard of care that is in the best interest of your pet and other patients that come to visit us. Please note that Advanced Animal Hospitals and their staff stand behind these policies and provide no exceptions.

Leash and Carrier Policy

Your pet must be on a leash or in a carrier when in the waiting room. If you do not have a leash or a carrier one will be provided to you during your visit.

Rabies Vaccine Policy

Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties require, by law, that your dog and cat be vaccinated against Rabies, and that the vaccine stays current for the duration of the pet's life. We do follow this law and permitting that your pet is healthy, will require your pet to be up-to-date, or be brought up-to-date on the Rabies Vaccine while visiting our hospitals.

Appointment Policy

To allow ample time for all patients and schedule surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time.

For your convenience drop-off appointments are available. A "drop off" means you could bring your pet at the time that works best for you and leave him/her with us for a couple of hours. Once the doctor is done, you will receive a call to go over the diagnosis and to give you discharge instructions.

Boarding Requirements

For your pet's and other pet's safety we require all pets to be up-to-date on a wellness exam and fecal exam. Your dog must have a current Heartworm test and be current on Heartworm prevention. He/She must also be currently on Frontline Plus or Revolution for flea control. Your dog needs to be up-to-date on Dhpp and Bordetella vaccine. Your cat must have been tested for Feline Leukemia at least once if they are indoor cats or have been tested with a 30 days if they spend any time out door and are not vaccinated against Feline Leukemia. He/She also needs to be up-to-date on FVRCP vaccine and currently on flea prevention. If your pet is not current on any of the above stated we would be happy to update him/her at the time of their visit.

Refill Policy

A doctor-patient- client relationship needs to be established for any medication, that is not over-the-counter, to be prescribed or dispensed. Only a doctor can authorize a refill for your pet's medication. The FDA requires that certain medications be monitored by blood work and sometimes blood pressure monitoring. Examples of some of these medications are Phenobarbital, Enalapril, Insulin, Thyroxine, and NSAIDs. These are just examples of the most common medications as there are a countless medications that need to be monitored.

Payment Policy

We require full payment at the time that services are rendered. For your convenience, we accept American Express, Visa, Master Card, Discover, Care Credit, Cash, and Personal Checks with valid state ID or Driver's License."
