Creature Comfort

First visits may be difficult. Our pets are in a new environment. Our pets may be nervous. At Hales Corners Veterinary Clinic, our goal is to work with you to give your pet the healthcare needed while being sensitive to emotional needs as well. We seek to answer as many questions as you might have regarding your pet’s care and treatment. Please let us know how we can make you and your pet more comfortable.

Records

If possible before your first visit, please gather any previous medical or adoption records you may have for your pet.

When you visit the hospital, please bring your pet in a carrier or on a leash. This will prevent any incidents with other animals that may also be in the lobby.

When it is time for your appointment, one of our veterinary technicians will escort you and your pet to an exam room where they will ask you some questions regarding your visit. The technician may obtain weight, temperature, and a quick assessment of your pet. Please let the technician know if your pet has any special needs or may require special handling such as a muzzle or pain medication prior to full exam.

Your Veterinary Team

During your pet’s visit, you will meet highly trained veterinary client service personnel, veterinary assistants, veterinary technicians and, of course, your veterinarian. Client service representatives are the face of our hospital and will greet you warmly when you walk through our doors. Our skilled veterinary assistants have gone through a thorough training program. Our Certified Veterinary Technicians have graduated with a two-year associate’s degree in veterinary technology and passed the National Veterinary Technician Exam.

When the veterinarian examines your pet, they will take the time to listen and ask questions so they can understand your concerns. They will also perform a physical examination of your pet—checking their eyes, ears, and mouth and listening to their heart—and will ask you questions about habits and activities.

We will all work together as a team to make sure your pet has the best care possible.

Medical Plan

If your pet requires additional treatment, a medical plan will be provided complete with an estimated cost of services and an explanation of everything included on the medical plan.

We know that you love your pet because we love our pets too. We treat our patients like our own pets because it is what we would expect from a veterinary team. We know you may be worried about your pet. After all, they are part of your family. We encourage you to call for an update at any time while your pet is staying with us.

Discharge

When your pet is ready to go home, we will provide you with all of the food and medications necessary for a speedy recovery. We will give you written instructions for continued care. Our veterinary team will take the time to address any concerns and teach you how to administer any treatments needed. Our veterinary team will call in a few days to check on your pet’s status. You are also welcome to call anytime with questions or concerns.
